Last weekend we joined with 100's of grassroots leagues across the UK to take part in the FA's National Silent Weekend Iniaitve. Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us and only 45% of BCFA matches went ahead.
This meant 6,000 of our players, their coaches and parents didn't get a chace to experience playing during a Silent Weekend.
Given this, the League Committee has decided to give all of our players (including the 6,000 that missed out) the opportunity to take part in a 2nd silent weekend, later this month in a special BCFA Youth Leauge Silent Weekend over the weekend of 23rd and 24th March 2024. This will apply to all BCFA Matches (League & Cup for U8s to U18s) and we will be following the same guidelines as last weekend (see below).
Guidelines for the BCFAYL Silent Support Weekend - Saturday 23rd & 24th March
For players…
They’ll be doing all the talking. This is an opportunity for them to find their voice and explore their game, without any distractions.
For coaches…
When the game is in play, coaches can either join in the silent support, or coach around the match. Either way, they champion the voices on the pitch.
For spectators…
We’re asking anyone on the sidelines to show your support with applause only. When the noise stops, they become unstoppable.
Your silence speaks volumes. Let’s see the difference it makes on the pitch.
